Those wooden trays are handmade by a craftsman called Wu Jianghai from Jingdezhen. With a long-term passion for tea and teaware, Wu quit the marketing job and devoted himself to making wooden tea set accessories. Aimed to incorporate the ancient elements into the modern tea-brewing, he spent a lot of time on the hunt for antique wood as materials and retain the organic texture in the finished crafts as much as possible. To the great extent, his crafts heighten the sense of wabisabi to a tea ceremony, reflecting his appreciation of nature force and the simple life he values the most.

Those tea trays are made of aged woods collected literally from remote villages which have been used for other purposes for decades generally before crafting. Those trays are characterized by the ancient designs with several patches around the body depending on the texture of the wood used, minimizing the distraction and manifesting strong wabisabi esthetics. If you are looking for an antique tray to match your multiple teapots well, then you are in the right place.

Please note as the wood of those trays is not freshly from the wild, characterised by imperfection and so-called flaws. If you are addicted to perfection, this series of trays will not be your taste at all. There are 3 shapes available with slight differences in each shape.
